Last month, French bistro Lemon Twist reopened on Miami Beach’s Normandy Isle, a man-made island west of North Beach, with a new owner, new chef, and a refurbished dining room for 65. Originally opened in 1998, the restaurant was converted into a sports bar in 2006 before closing last May, when restaurateur Alain Suissa purchased the venue.

The 1,800-square-foot space has been redesigned with garnet-colored walls, lace curtains, dim lighting, and a partial tin ceiling. The main dining room includes a 10-seat bar running along the left wall. A communal wooden banquette along the right wall seats another 12, and four-person tables fill the space in between. For receptions, the tables can be cleared to make room for 120 guests. Additionally, a covered sidewalk patio seats 20. MORE >>

On Collins Avenue, MAPS consists of two conjoined 3.500-square-foot photo studios—aptly named Studio A and Studio B. In July the 125-acre Naples Beach Hotel & Golf Club, 90 minutes west of Miami, embarked on a $3 million enhancement project to relocate and rebuild its pool area, as well as remodel all guest rooms.

Available for events beginning in early November, the new outdoor area will front the beach north of the existing pool. The space will have separate adult and children's pools, two whirlpools, and eight tent-style cabanas that can accommodate four people each. Though the pools cannot be covered to accommodate additional guests or performances, the deck loungers can be removed to make room for nearly 200 guests in the area. The nearby beach can be used in conjunction with the deck for groups as large as 500. MORE >>

Truluck’s Seafood, Steak, and Crab House added to its list of eco-conscious eateries—the company owns its own fisheries and crabbing boats to avoid catching and serving endangered fish species—with the opening of its third Florida location, in Fort Lauderdale, at the end of June. (There are two other Florida locations, in Boca Raton and Naples.) Rectangular black-framed mirrors, black geometric light fixtures, and eight water-filled cylindrical vases filled with live orchids decorate the restaurant.

The 4,500-square-foot dining room seats as many as 325 divided among four-top tables and semicircular banquettes. To the right of the space, a 1,500-square-foot tiled piano bar offers live music daily and can seat 60 at its bar and highboys. MORE >>
