In some parts of the world, fall brings crisp weather and colorful leaves that crunch under foot. In Los Angeles, it brought a hyper-busy event calendar filled with parties that included movie premieres packed with ideas—like an army of zombies, oversize donuts that hung overhead, and decor that begged to be admired but definitely not touched. Here is a selection of photos from the arrivals scenes and bashes for Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, Zombieland, Whip It, and Law Abiding Citizen. MORE >>

Local Chefs Cook Up a Feast for Julie & Julia Premiere

In Julie & Julia, the Nora Ephron-directed film about American cooking icon Julia Child and New York blogger Julie Powell, food is the centerpiece. (So much so that the movie's chefs and stylists made a significant effort to create edible dishes that looked as mouthwatering as they were described.) It seemed natural then for the premiere on Thursday night to be followed by a feast of a party filled with an abundance of food.

Flooded with foodies—restaurateurs, chefs, restaurant critics, and stars from the Food Network—the late-night event packed the Metropolitan Club with about 1,000 guests, who gorged on cakes, roast chicken, fresh shellfish, and other gourmet grub. To further spice up the menu, Columbia Pictures' Alison Bossert and event producer Chris Benarroch challenged five local chefs to serve their own take on recipes from Child's seminal cookbook, Mastering the Art of French Cooking. Real-Life Bride and Groom Marry at Made of Honor Premiere

On Monday night, Michelle Golightly and Shaun Bollinger of Carlyle, Pennsylvania, got married in the presence of 30 of their closest friends and family. The ceremony had all the makings of an intimate affair—unless you count the phalanx of paparazzi on hand, spectators watching the proceedings on a JumboTron across the street, and the fact that Entertainment Tonight's Mary Hart, legally ordained for the occasion, officiated. And that Patrick Dempsey was there to promote his latest film, Made of Honor.

As winners of a contest sponsored by The Knot and Sony Pictures (Columbia's parent company), the now newlyweds gamely provided the central publicity stunt for the premiere of Dempsey's new romantic comedy, in which the actor adopts the post of maid of honor in an effort to win back the woman he loves. (The public voted at the film's Web site to determine who would win the prize, which, in addition to nuptials prior to the screening, included a European vacation, a wedding dress, rings, a $10,000 check, and more.)
