Breakfast
On the Cheap: The Grey Dog's Coffee has a catering division that offers breakfast options such as homemade granola with yogurt and berries ($3.75 per person), a continental breakfast of bagels, muffins, crumb cakes, croissants, chocolate bread, and banana bread ($3.75 per person), or berry bruschetta—fresh berries with chocolate on toasted sourdough bread ($3.95 per person). Selections may be dropped off throughout most of Manhattan (with a 10 percent delivery charge). Orders should be made 24 hours in advance, but the convivial folks will work with you for last-minute needs. |

Mid-Price: New downtown patisserie How Sweet It Is offers French-style handmade sweets. Make sure everyone tries at least two of the tasty pastries and order a bevy of the shop’s Danish ($3.50 each), croissants ($2.25 each), or sticky buns ($3.25 each). The bakery also provides its own house-blend brewed coffee. (A 96-ounce insulated box serves about 12 and costs $25.) Order 24 hours in advance, and they’ll deliver the treats anywhere in Manhattan for a $25 charge.
Splurge: Matthew Kenney’s FreeFoods NYC operates a new organic café in Midtown and also provides catering services throughout Manhattan. Chef de cuisine Leo Monroy can prepare a shrimp and green onion frittata for around $7, which pairs well with a medley of seasonal mixed fruits with agave nectar, citrus, and ginger for about $5. Organic coffee and teas are in the $2 range per serving.
Late Night
On the Cheap: Overworked colleagues pulling an all-nighter will warm up to the evening hours with a delivery from Insomnia Cookies of jumbo chocolate chip, macadamia nut, and sugar varieties, as well as brownies topped with Snickers, walnuts, or cookie dough. Best of all, the snacks are guaranteed to be delivered warm until 3 a.m. Cookies cost 90 cents each (there’s a minimum order of $6, plus a 99-cent delivery fee) and can be delivered through a wide swath of downtown.
Mid-Price: The meatpacking district’s Mexican eatery Los Dados is rolling out a late-night taqueria next door. Small bites such as guacamole and sliced mango spice up orders of tacos al pastor ($9), sweet corn tamales ($5), chipotle-lime shrimp empanadas ($11), and hearty black bean and Oaxacan cheese tortas ($9). The home-style cooking can be delivered nightly until 11 p.m., with future plans to deliver even later. Orders may be placed on the same day as delivery, and can be sent to locations throughout Manhattan.
Splurge: Iconic TriBeCa bistro Landmarc opened up a second location in the Time Warner Center last April, and both locations deliver dishes such as roasted chicken ($22), braised pork belly ($26), strip steak with fries ($29), and grilled skirt steak salad ($22). Sides ($8 each) include sautéed mushrooms, spaghetti squash, haricots verts, and crushed potatoes. Delivery is available nightly until 11 p.m., from West 55th to West 66th streets between Fifth and West End avenues and downtown from Vesey to Spring streets between the West Side Highway and Lafayette Street.
