| Fancy Food Show Moves to D.C. in 2011 |
|
The National Association for the Specialty Food Trade announced last week that its Fancy Food Show, a New York institution since 1992 (and one of our Top 100 events in New York), will move to Washington, D.C., in 2011. The popular food-industry trade show draws about 32,000 people every year, and directors expect their new location at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center to be no exception.
N.A.S.F.T. president Ann Draw recently told Gourmet Retailer that the ongoing uncertainty concerning the expansion of the show's current home, the Javits Center, was a reason for the move. To her, Washington was a clear choice.
“Washington is ideally located to pull buyers from the South, the Northeast, and the Middle Atlantic states,” she said in a press release. As of now, the show is expected to return to New York the following year. This year's Fancy Food Show runs June 29 to July 1 in New York.
