A Week of Sex: Premiere Parties in Two Cities, Plus Complaints From Crowds

Today marks the official premiere of Sex and the City, and the film seemed to be all anyone talked about this week (in the New York tabloids at least). We covered Tuesday's Swarovski-studded New York premiere fete at MoMA, witnessing firsthand the fans that didn't get into the screening. Fallout for the mistake dominated much of the coverage by local media.

Things appeared to go more smoothly in Toronto. The Canadian premiere appropriately recreated a New York street (without the rain), and pink tutu-clad waiters passed hors d'oeuvres to guests like Kim Cattrall.

We also took a look back at Sex season premiere parties through the years, and spoke with producer Maria Ruiz about working with so many different sponsors for the New York premiere. All of our Sex and the City coverage is here.
