| ISES Announces Esprit Awards Nominees |
|
The International Special Events Society recently announced the nominees for its annual Esprit Awards, which will be given out during the organization's annual meeting in Florida next month. Some 38 awards are being handed out—categories range from best ISES team effort to best entertainment production—and the nominees include members from chapters throughout world.
Schaumburg, Illinois-based Total Event Resources received two nominations. The company's work on a Design Industry Fight for AIDS (Diffa) Chicago event for 820 guests earned a nod in the category of best event for a nonprofit organization with a budget over $200,000, while a Nashville conference it organized for 1,800 attendees is nominated for best meeting and conference program with a budget over $200,000.
Other contenders for best nonprofit over $200,000 are the You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet-50th Birthday Bash from Canada's e=mc2 Event Management Inc. and the Spertus Institute Grand Opening from Chicago's Event Architects. The additional nominees for best meeting/conference program with a budget over $200,000 include Champions of the Mountains from Dublin, Ohio-based Jobe & Associates, and Let the Dialogue Begin! from Washington's Bravo Events by Design. (A complete list of nominees is on the ISES Web site).
This year's ISES Esprit Awards, which are expected to draw approximately 400 guests, will take place on August 23 at the Renaissance Vinoy Resort and Golf Club in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Blue Moon Hotel
Blue Moon—more like a museum than a hotel, a beloved neighborhood icon on a block that more closely resembles a back lot at MGM—is the ‛brick-and-mortar masterpiece" of artist-as-architect Randy Settenbrino, who, in a painterly style and using a combination of instinct and inspiration, transcended the limitations of a five-story tenement, transforming it into a stately eight-story hotel that beautifully marries the old and new, combining humble period details with modern luxuries.
