Even though temperatures have dropped, Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream's truck is still serving homemade ice cream throughout Manhattan—and for events. Owner Ben Van Leeuwen launched the mobile business this summer as a way to sell his homemade varieties of the creamy dessert. His two trucks (regularly located in SoHo and the Upper West Side) offer 10 flavors, including classics such as chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry, and more unusual flavors like red currant and gianduja, a chocolate and hazelnut concoction. All ice creams are made with natural ingredients such as hormone-free milk and retail for $3.95 per serving. Event fees start at $500, and the truck can travel to all five boroughs.
