Hoboken's W Hotel Debuts With Meeting Facilities and New Nightlife Partner
Continuing the expansion of the W Hotel brand, Starwood Hotels and Resorts opened the W Hoboken Hotel & Residences March 27. Although the property is still in its soft-opening phase—the official opening is slated for April 23—rooms are available and almost all of its spaces are ready. Situated on River Street, on the New Jersey city's waterfront, the hotel offers 225 guest rooms, 23 suites, 5,700 square feet of meeting and event space, two bar areas, a restaurant, and a 5,000-square-foot spa.

Much like its sister properties in Manhattan and elsewhere, the W Hoboken is modern in design and equipped with various amenities, including high-speed wireless Internet access, conference capabilities, computer and printer kiosks, and a variety of audiovisual equipment, as well as on-site technicians.

For business functions, the W Hoboken includes four 400-square-foot rooms—Studios 1, 2, 3, and 4—which each seat 24 theater-style. Divided by movable walls, these different sections can be combined into one large space with the capacity for 120 for receptions. All four studios overlook the Hudson River and are equipped with blackout curtains and light-diffusing shades. The W Hoboken's ballroom, known as the Great Room, measures 4,140 square feet and holds 270 banquet-style, 370 seated theater-style, or 400 for receptions.

To operate the two bar areas, the boutique hotel brand partnered with Eugene Remm and Mark Birnbaum of the EMM Group, the company behind meatpacking district club Tenjune. The nightlife outfit runs the Hoboken property's lobby-level Living Room lounge, as well as the 4,000-square-foot Chandelier Room. The latter, which opened on Friday, offers indoor and outdoor space and has its own entrance.

Also at the hotel is Zylo, a Tuscan steak house. This spacious street-level spot was designed by Bentel & Bentel and includes accents such as cork, blackened steel, and basalt, intended to evoke Hoboken's shipbuilding heritage. The restaurant seats 50, serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and will offer al fresco dining in the warmer months.
