| Business Entertaining 2009: Where to Go in the Financial District |

| Bars: Appropriately situated inside an old bank vault, Trinity Place is almost hidden from view—the entrance is on Cedar Street—but perpetually packed. From behind a 40-foot-long mahogany bar, the restaurant serves drinks as well as small bites like mini Kobe beef burgers. Farther south is Harry’s Bar, a bustling spot favored by traders. There’s an extensive list of spirits to complement dishes like clams on the half shell. |

Restaurants: Recently, development in this neighborhood has slowed, but new joints are still popping up. The comfy vibe at the Wall Street Burger Shoppe suits its selection of burgers and sandwiches, while Latin restaurant Onda has a colorful look to complement its contemporary Latin comfort food. Overlooking Wall Street itself is the terrace of Cipriani Wall Street Restaurant, which sits on the second floor of the building that houses the oft-used ballroom.
Private Rooms: Designed to look like a 1970s-era London clubhouse, the Libertine is the latest from chef Todd English. Sporting leather and mahogany, bookshelves, and candles, the in-house restaurant of the Gild Hall hotel serves what the chef calls “reinterpreted pub fare,” which includes items like caviar sliders and Kobe beef hot dogs. On the lower level, semiprivate booths for six are available, and the upstairs lounge, which comes with a communal table for 12—can be booked for groups of 30.
