Making a Corporate Group Into a Rock Band

Song Division specializes in interactive songwriting experiences for groups of all sizes. The five-year-old Australian company expanded its services to the U.S. and Canada in the past year, allowing participants to write, record, and perform original songs with the help of professional musicians and producers who have worked with the likes of David Bowie, Aretha Franklin, and Aerosmith. Group sizes and session times are flexible, and the sessions can comprise a full day's activity or one part of a larger event. For example, a musician on the Song Division roster can walk a large group through the writing and performance of an original song in 25 minutes as a conference energizer, or a smaller group could spend half a day making music in a recording studio. The master recording can be put on a CD and used as a soundtrack for other events, favors, or even made into ringtones. The company works internationally and sessions can be held anywhere, from recording studios to conference rooms to convention centers. Pricing starts at $3,700 for a one- to three-hour session for 50 to 200 people and increases with group size.
