Music Equipment Company to Open Event Space
Studio Instrument Rentals, the 42-year-old music equipment rental company based in Los Angeles, is adding venue management to its roster of services: later this year, it will open a 14,000-square-foot facility called Stage 37, on the ground floor of a warehouse-like space on West 37th Street.

Around the corner from the New York offices of Studio Instrument Rentals and less than a block from the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, Stage 37 will be a blank-slate site—minimal decor, plain concrete floors, and walls painted white—designed exclusively for events. In addition to a lofty main space with 30-foot ceilings and a mezzanine level, the venue will offer sections for production and back-of-house prep (including a place for caterers to set up), a green room for talent, and a 10-foot-wide load-in area.

The venue will have capacity for approximately 500 people and, naturally, be set up for musical performances with lighting, sound equipment, and 2,000 amps of dedicated power.
