Ink48: West Side Hotel Debuts With Urban Park-Inspired Design
Set in a former printing house, Ink48 is a boutique hotel that opened softly last fall and debuted its restaurant, Print, earlier this month. The 222-room, 17-story property from Kimpton Hotels is one of the few locations in Hell's Kitchen that houses accommodations, conference and event facilities, and rooftop space. To design Ink48, architects David Rockwell and Carlos Zapata drew inspiration from urban mini parks and New York lofts, contrasting elements like large-scale floral graphics and textured stone walls with copper-topped tables and backlit acrylic screens.

In addition to the guest rooms, which run between 250 and 600 square feet, the hotel has a three-room spa, a 24-hour fitness center, and 5,000 square feet of meeting space. The latter, which is situated on the third, fourth, and fifth floors, is offered for corporate business functions as well as social gatherings. The largest of these are the two rooms on the fourth floor, 1,156-square-foot sections that hold as many as 95 for receptions, 72 banquet-style, or 54 in a classroom-style set up. Equipped with audiovisual gear and Wireless Internet access, the facilities are suited for multimedia presentations and conferences.

Elsewhere, there's the lobby-level Print, an 80-seat eatery from restaurant consultant Adam Block and chefs Charles Rodriguez and Heather Carlucci-Rodriguez, and a bar and lounge section with three semiprivate areas. The rooftop terrace, a lounge and restaurant dubbed Press, is slated to open next month.
