Victoria's Secret Party Is Smokin' (Cigarettes)
A crowd of models lit up at the launch party for the lingerie brand’s Sexy book.
The crowd at

Milk Gallery was smokin’ for the launch of the Victoria’s Secret book Sexy—and we’re not talking about the models’ bodies. Ashtrays on the tallboys seemed to encourage lighting up—so many in the leggy, well-heeled crowd smoked using the hands that weren’t holding mini bottles with straws from sponsor Moët. (Is Mayor Michael Bloomberg too concerned with the city’s 2012 Olympic bid and the West Side redevelopment to be bothered to enforce his legislation?)

Victoria’s Secret PR director Monica Mitro planned the event with production by Plug. Olivier Cheng Catering and Events passed sweets—mini red velvet cupcakes, white chocolate passion fruit bonbons decorated with red roses, and pink white chocolate domes—on Lucite trays, which matched the party’s (and the gallery’s) overall sleek, white look. White obelisk-shaped speakers made audio equipment a stylish decor element. But the most chic element of all was the three Mylar panels hanging on the west windows showing arty projections of films made at Victoria’s Secret photo shoots—the look was flat-panel futuristic, but the execution was low-tech innovation.
