This Week: Fashion Fairs and Phantom Fete
After a slow period around the holidays, things start up again with the beginning of The New York Times' Arts and Leisure Weekend tomorrow, with special offerings at cultural institutions around the city and discussions at the Graduate Center, City University of New York. Talks and promotions continue through Monday. Thursday evening the Times hosts an auction to benefit the Actors' Fund of America at Christie's. Also Thursday is destination management company Briggs Inc.'s June Briggs awards ceremony at the Rainbow Room.

The New York National Boat Show ends Sunday at the Javits Center, and the Fashion Avenue Market Expo, Accessories the Show, and Moda Manhattan fashion trade shows begin, as does the ENK Children's Club show; the shows all run through Tuesday. ENK also hosts the Accessories Circuit and Intermezzo Collections at the Show Piers on the Hudson and Pier 94; those shows also continue through Tuesday. Monday, the Phantom of the Opera is celebrated as the longest running show on Broadway with a party at the Waldorf-Astoria. On Tuesday, the National Board of Review of Motion Pictures holds its awards ceremony at Tavern on the Green.
