This Week: Toy Show Ends and Protocol Execs Gather
A touch of Spain comes to town today with the opening of the New York Flamenco Festival at New York City Center; performances continue through Sunday. The American International Toy Fair wraps up today at the Javits Center, while this evening in nearby west Chelsea, Travel & Leisure magazine hosts a party at the Cedar Lake Center to celebrate its design awards. Tonight at Jazz at Lincoln Center, the School of American Ballet holds its winter gala. Thursday Bagir men’s apparel and JCPenney hold a promotional stunt for a line of ready-to-wear suits at a Hell’s Kitchen laundromat. Tomorrow evening, the American Museum of Natural History throws its Winter Dance, which will have a desert oasis theme. Downtown at Skylight, Seeds of Peace’s Peace Market will feature Middle Eastern, North African, and South Asian elements, and a performance by John Legend. On Friday, the Council of Protocol Executives holds its biennial Eventpower conference at the New York Palace hotel. Monday is Presidents’ Day, and on Tuesday, the New York metropolitan chapter of the International Special Events Society hosts an event at the Gotham Comedy Club about hiring entertainment.
