| Chelsea Piers Bowling Center Getting Makeover |
|
AMF Chelsea Piers Lanes general manager David Smith called to tell us the 40-lane bowling center is planning a big renovation to give the venue more of an upscale lounge feel. AMF is spending $5 million to $7 million for the update, closing half of the location at a time. The plan calls for construction to start May 1 and the whole place to be finished November 1. Smith described the proposed look for the upstairs space as a sleek cigar bar—“without the cigars,” of course—while the downstairs will have more of a high-tech feel. The plan also calls for a new menu and a service upgrade to more of a restaurant-type approach, with servers assigned to the lanes at all times.
