| ISES Celebrates 20 Years With New Initiative |
|
Last night at the South Street Seaport Museum, the International Special Events Society (ISES) kicked off its 20th-year celebration with an event for 200 people, including current members, five past presidents, and new faces from the industry. The first hour offered live jazz entertainment, apple martinis, and food from Mangia. ISES's anniversary tour will continue into 2008, ending in June with the Big Apple Awards gala, which will honor 20 people who have made contributions within the event planning, production/design, and travel and tourism industries.
Launching one of the most significant initiatives of its 20th year, ISES has formed a strategic partnership with the NYU School of Continuing and Professional Studies. The ISES New York Metro Institute at NYU will feature four educational intensives that will focus on events marketing, communications, service delivery, and entrepreneurship. “This alliance with one of the top educational institutions in America is a special member benefit,” said Liz Glover Wilson, director of corporate events at iStar Financial and the current president of ISES. “It is focused on the strength of education and supports the mission of ISES, which is to educate, advance, and promote the special events industry and its network of professionals.”
