Christie's Chooses Artistic Arrangements
Photo: Courtesy of Adrianna Archer
As special events coordinator for Christie’s Auction House, Adrianna Archer produces more than 400 events a year. She has worked on Christie's re-creation of Truman Capote's Black and White ball, a gala to commemorate Marie Antoinette’s death, and frequent V.I.P. collectors dinners.

Catering: "DM Cuisine's constant creativity and ability to make last-minute requests go through flawlessly makes them such an asset to Christie’s. For our Asia Week reception, we asked them to come up with different themed hors d’oeuvre menus for each one of our sales: Chinese, Japanese, and Indian art. They produced a menu to match each room, such as miso soup in ceramic sake glasses in the Japanese view, mini pea, potato, and mint samosas for the Indian view, and steamed dumplings in bamboo baskets for the Chinese view—not to mention perfectly matched cocktails, like saketinis and ginger-lychee iced tea.

"My favorite party hors d’oeuvres come from Mary Giuliani's kitchen. She has perfected taking classics and miniaturizing them, such as cones of warm Parmesan fries, lobster rolls, pots of jalapeño mac and cheese, and Post-it-size grilled cheese with a shot of tomato soup. Her desserts are equally divine, again with an emphasis on classics, like molten chocolate cake with a milk-shake shot, warm apple tart tatin, and warm, bite-size cookies."

Flowers: "[Christie’s has] a standing order of at least two arrangements every week with Ron Wendt. Their work is always lush and seasonal, and their team is flexible and accommodating. [They arranged] elegant bamboo baskets of assorted orchids for an Asia luncheon and giant fuchsia poppies floating in oversize fish bowls for our Warhol dinner."

Invitations: "We love Anne Noonan at Soho Letterpress for her ultra-luxurious, heavy-card-stock invitations. Multiple clients have told us they can’t bring themselves to throw them away, even after the event is over!" Calligraphy: "Glorie Austern’s work at the Calligraphy Company is nothing short of perfection, from hand-blending her own pigments to selecting high-quality paper. On the nights of our important dinners, she will come just in case there are name changes or additions, often staying until the group is seated."
