American Museum of Natural History and BizBash Host "Art of the Premiere" Luncheon
The American Museum of Natural History in New York hosted BizBash’s latest “Art of the Event” luncheon on October 17. Twenty event planners attended the luncheon in the LeFrak Theater inside the Museum. Upon arrival, guests were treated to beverages and appetizers such as braised short ribs on puff pastry and truffle-scented polenta with mushroom ragu as they relaxed (the New York traffic was particularly bad that day!) and admired the beautiful space, which was lit by Bentley Meeker Lighting & Staging.

Matthew David of Matthew David Events Ltd. created a stunning table design. Set on the theater stage, the long rectangular table with curved ends was constructed with table bases from Party Rental Ltd. Beneath the milk-white plexiglass tabletop, the luncheon’s “Art of the Premiere” theme was screen-printed in various sizes on vinyl. Colorful ribbons in autumnal jewel tones placed under the tabletop provided a unique tablecloth effect. Flatware and Riedel stemless glassware, also from Party Rental Ltd., provided an elegant yet casual look.

Colorful dahlias, placed into holes cut into the tabletop, provided the finishing touch and offered a dramatic visual effect. Two side panels flanking the stage were created using PVC pipes and stretch material for a textured effect.

Once seated at the table, David Adler, C.E.O. and founder of BizBash, welcomed guests, and Barbara Gunn, Senior Vice President of Operations for the Museum, spoke briefly about the theater’s history. With a capacity of 935, flexible stage configurations, and excellent acoustics, the theater is an ideal venue for holding private events within the public museum.

Event planners in attendance were treated to a lively discussion with Peggy Siegal, president of the Siegal Company, and Hollace Davids, senior vice president of special projects for Universal Pictures. Topics of discussion included Universal’s upcoming premiere party for American Gangster, starring Denzel Washington, and challenges associated with planning charity events.

Restaurant Associates
created a delicious lunch that included roasted sweet-potato pear soup and seared baby poussin with wild rice, chestnuts, brussels leaves, and lemon thyme sauce. A special Oscar dessert finished off the meal.

After the event officially ended, attendees remained to network and chat before heading back to work.
