A Festive Summer Museum Fete
Balloons can look tacky at events, but the black and white balloons with silver ribbon that covered the entrance way ceiling at the Museum of the City of New York's Starlit Summer Night benefit looked enchanting. The venue feels more like a residence than a museum with its long sweeping marble staircase, an enclosed front garden with carefully manicured hedges encircling simple flowerbeds and a back terrace.

The event was organized by the museum's special events director Christine DeFonce, for the Director's Council, a group of junior museum supporters. For entertainment, she brought in Ray Jarrell (from Productions for the Planet) to DJ on the outside patio under a tent from Stamford Tents, and the Global Village Artists steel drum band played festive Caribbean music in the front garden.
