OVERVIEW
A New York institution and a tourist favorite, Tavern on the Green is one of the city's dining legends, with 27,000 square feet of space on the west side of Central Park. Seating 1,500 guests between six private dining rooms and several tented gardens, the restaurant features more than 45 chandeliers—including 16 stained-glass pieces designed by the late owner Walter LeRoy. In December 2009, the LeRoy family's lease to operate the space will expire. The Department of Parks & Recreation has not released information on the future tenant.
