Blue Moon Hotel

Blue Moon—more like a museum than a hotel, a beloved neighborhood icon on a block that more closely resembles a back lot at MGM—is the “brick-and-mortar masterpiece" of artist-as-architect Randy Settenbrino, who, in a painterly style and using a combination of instinct and inspiration, transcended the limitations of a five-story tenement, transforming it into a stately eight-story hotel that beautifully marries the old and new, combining humble period details with modern luxuries.

Richard Price stayed at the Blue Moon for several months, an appropriate shrine to his passion for the Lower East Side. Critic James Gardner flattered us by copying our penthouse bathroom in one of his personal dwellings.

Blue Moon, a five-year art-preservation and design project, provides an understated elegance whose decor transcends time, creating an ambience that resonates aesthetically and historically. The space features a full kitchen and piano.
