In addition to the scheduled debuts of delayed venues like the Trump Soho , Ma Pêche , and the W's downtown property , the next couple of months will bring a slew of new sites for events and entertaining. Here's what to expect from spring's biggest openings.
1. New Meadowlands Stadium
The $1.6 billion new home for N.F.L. teams the New York Giants and New York Jets will open in April and, in addition to 82,500 seats for football fans, the 2.1 million-square-foot sports arena will offer six club lounges designed by David Rockwell. How to Secure New York's Pedestrian Plazas for Events

Although the new edict from the police department will curb the street activities of parades, Mayor Michael Bloomberg's decision last month to make the car-free zones on Broadway permanent provides additional space for public gatherings and promotions. Less than a year old, the spots in Times Square, Herald Square, and the Flatiron district have already seen stunts from big brands like, VH1 , Nike, WE TV , and Toyota. At present, there is no single agency that handles the booking of these locations; here's who to contact at this point in time:
Times Square
With the most visibility, the pedestrian plazas in Times Square have the biggest draw, running from 42nd to 47th Street beside Military Island and Duffy Square. Following the results of a design competition launched by the Department of Transportation and the Times Square Alliance on Wednesday, these sections will sport a new look. The Times Square Alliance still handles events at Duffy Square, but the Street Activity Permit Office oversees the use of the pedestrian areas as well as Military Island. All information, including applications, rules, and the new fee scale introduced last June are available on the agency's Web site, nyc.gov/sapo .

A tumultuous 2009 brought a slew of changes for the city—dozens of restaurants and bars closed, and institutions like the Rainbow Room and Tavern on the Green are changing hands. Still, New York remains heavily populated with places for entertaining, business functions, and events. Here's a look at spaces set to open in 2010.
1. Javits Center North
Years in the making, the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center's expansion is expected to open in June. The first phase of a $463 million project will be a 100,000-square-foot site on the Midtown West block bounded by 39th Street, 11th Avenue, 40th Street, and 12th Avenue. Connected to the existing center by a 15-foot-wide passageway, this new addition to the north side of the campus is tentatively dubbed Javits Center North and will increase exhibition space by 40,000 square feet, with the other 60,000 devoted to prefunction, registration, and food service areas, as well as a truck court and loading docks.

More than just residential territory, the Upper West Side claims its fair share of museums and performance venues—and, these days, notable restaurants like Per Se , Masa , and Picholine . Moreover, Fashion Week will bring a different type of crowd when it moves its tents to Damrosch Park in Lincoln Center in September.
In fact, Fashion Week’s shift uptown underscores the ongoing redevelopment of Lincoln Center. Unveiled in February 2009, the spiffy new Alice Tully Hall showcases an expanded lobby for receptions, a 4,200-square-foot glass-enclosed lounge on the mezzanine, and the redesigned 1,087-seat Starr Theater.
