Los Angeles—June 11, 2009—Confetti filled the air and noisemakers sang as a stunned planner found himself the center of attention at a surprise celebration at BizBash’s L.A. Expo & Awards. His grinning peers clapped and hooted in delight as Ed Gallo learned he’d just won five pounds of custom-branded M&M’s for being the 500th expo attendee to come through the registration area. Gallo is the event manager for Warner Bros. Special Events in Burbank.
BizBaash marketing director Tom Leader and E-vents Registration owner Jeff Posner broke out the old-fashioned party favors and cavorted around the shocked Gallo before presenting him with a gumball-machine-shaped M&M dispenser full of the candies. His fellow registrants formed the cheering audience for the impromptu award ceremony.
Gallo will receive a five-pound bag of the brightly colored, tiny, tasty, and timelessly popular treats—embossed with the logo and message of his choice—later this month. One five-pound bag contains about 5,000 M&M’s.
This year’s L.A. Expo & Awards was the most successful ever, with more than 1,500 event professionals breaking all previous attendance records to meet, network, share tips and strategies, and connect with business partners new and old at the L.A. Mart.
