Planners Gather in Challenging Times at the Chicago Merchandise Mart on August 20, 2009 to Stress Importance of Events in the Current Economy

CHICAGO—August 6, 2009—The second annual Chicago BizBash Expo and education conference, presented by BizBash Media, the trade press for the meeting and event industry, will be held August 20, 2009, from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The trade show floor will open at 11:00 a.m. at the Chicago Merchandise Mart.

For the first time this year, the expo will feature BizBash’s Event Style Awards. The awards presentation honors the best events held in the greater Chicago area within the past year. Award categories include Best Overall Catering at an Event, Best New Product, Best Nonprofit Event Concept, Best Event PR Strategy and 12 additional categories. Finalists were announced yesterday. More than 1,000 corporate meeting and event professionals, PR and marketing professionals, and industry suppliers will gather to learn, rally, network, and leave re-energized with new ideas and strategies. Now more than ever, planners need to come together to stress the importance of events as they relate to the overall corporate strategy.

BizBash editor in chief Chad Kaydo and Tom Kehoe, president of Kehoe Designs, will present the afternoon keynote presentation on "The Latest Trends in the Changing Event Landscape."

The conference program will feature nine sessions on the latest industry trends and ideas. Exhibitors showcasing their products and services will include event planning companies, specialty foods dealers, print collateral and signage companies, staging and audiovisual companies, hotels, unique venues, rental companies, caterers, entertainers, event technology providers, destination management companies, and many additional businesses offering cutting-edge event solutions and meeting tools.

"The BizBash Expo has truly become the annual gathering place for anyone who touches special events, meetings, trade shows, and innovative face-to-face marketing of any type. When we started BizBash nine years ago, events were a nice thing to have—now, in tough economic times, face-to-face connections are even more important and are recognized as a marketing must," says BizBash C.E.O. David Adler.

Conference program attendees will leverage the experience of event veterans, have an opportunity to expand their knowledge, and keep abreast on the latest industry trends. Nine timely education sessions are scheduled throughout the day. Topics to include:
