Rudy Angers Paraders

September 6, 2000, 12:00 AM EDT

Revelers defied the ban with bottles and cans wrapped in brown paper bags. Many also protested the mayor's appearance at the parade with jeers and insults. Parade organizers were also angered by the ban, especially when the city decided to allow alcohol--albeit in limited quantities--at the Feast of San Gennaro in Little Italy.
