Founded by the San Diego Society of Natural History in 1874, this museum opened in a Balboa Park Spanish Colonial building in 1933. The 150,000-square-foot facility has a four-story atrium, a rooftop terrace, an 8,500-squarefoot exhibition hall, a 300-seat theater, and conference rooms. In its entirety, the museum holds 2,000; the terrace holds 200 for receptions.
