Opened in March, Spilled Milk Catering offers its services throughout Washington, Maryland, and Virginia. Partners Amit Gulati, James J. Shea, and Raj Bhattacharya specialize in custom menus with a homespun, unfussy feel. Gulati brings culinary experience from area restaurant Nage, Shea specializes in rustic Italian food after training in Bologna, Italy, and Bhattacharya serves as pastry chef. Signature dishes include cornmeal blinis with tomato salsa and avocado crema, ginger-marinated fried calamari, and bread pudding fritters with chocolate sauce. Spilled Milk caters events for as many as 250 and can provide service staff. The company also offers cooking classes for corporate groups of as many as 30 people. Classes are held at a company's choice of location and tailored to the group's interest and skill level. Past sessions have focused on ethnic cuisines like Indian and Italian, as well as specific types of food, such as appetizers.
