LOS ANGELES Since local weather had shown the promise of summer just a few days earlier—before backing off in more wintry fashion—Oakley took the sunshine as an opportunity to invite guests for a daytime poolside party on Wednesday at L'Ermitage in Beverly Hills, organized by Fingerprint Communications. Providing entertainment was Lil Jon, who served as DJ. Oakley, in an ongoing effort to partner with artists and athletes, brought Lil Jon—outfitted in the brand, of course—to keep the crowd going while they checked out its summer 2011 collection of sunglasses and apparel.
“Lil Jon has been an Oakley ambassador for eight years now. Growing up in Atlanta, he was a good skateboarder and musician and always loved the Oakley brand,“ said alternative marketing manager Jeremy McCassy. “I ran into Jon in New York at the [MTV] VMAs in 2003, and since then he has collaborated on multiple lines of Oakley shades and has helped launch a ton of products with us. We have also supported his music tours, like the 2005 Anger Management with Eminem and 50 Cent—not to mention, he's become a great friend.”
