FROM WASHINGTON When two million people flooded the National Mall for President Obama’s inauguration this January, it signaled the unofficial start of a year when all the world’s eyes will be on D.C. Many of the District’s events have garnered new buzz in 2009 (regardless of whether planners were able to book the Obamas), and a surprising number continue to grow despite the economic downturn.
