TECHNOLOGY: Boosting Audience Participation

June 4, 2002, 12:00 AM EDT

One increasingly popular way to engage audience members at conferences is using interactive Q&A capabilities. When an M.C. asks a question, audience members use individual keypads to key in answers. The results can flash on a screen to spur discussion. Both Audience Voting Inc. and Option Technologies rent full-service packages that include voting handsets and audience response systems; prices average between $15 and $20 per user per day. Meridia Audience Response rents systems and provides on-site audiovisual set-up and support; packages start at $1,000.
