The Craziest $#!% I Ever Pulled Off: UrbanDaddy's Last-Minute Venue Change

From reader Lance Broumand, C.E.O. and founder, UrbanDaddy: “As part of a marketing stunt for our holiday party last year, we promoted the homecoming of a fictional person named Felix Von Hammersdutch—a rich heir to a family fortune. Plans were grand and highly complex, involving, among other things, digital projection mapping and things like a series of human hamster wheels run by midgets, which were going to be generating all the power, light, and sound for the night. A couple days before the event, the venue owners pulled the plug on our event, so we had to move it, which was not possible given the nature of all the infrastructure. We rebuilt the party at J.P. Morgan’s personal bank down on Wall Street, and in those few days managed to transform it into a wing of the Hammersdutch household. Inside of it we built a massive digital grandfather clock out of which, at different points of the night, came things like a 40-foot silver platter of lobsters and roast pigs, a floor-to-ceiling Marie Antoinette-style cake, teams of fire breathers, an African dance troupe of 40, and a famous opera singer from the Metropolitan Opera who sang a rendition of Beyoncé’s 'Halo' in full soprano.”
