Interior Design Show Party Presents "Food as Theatre," With Performing Bartenders, Interactive Stations
|
For the opening night party of the 11th annual Interior Design Show, held Thursday at the Direct Energy Centre, organizers chose caterers who presented food as theatre in an effort to entertain guests at the event, which adopted an "aMUSE" theme this year. “The whole evening is certainly food and drink centric,” said event producer Marion Heintzman of Heintzman Productions. “We decided to present food as theatre so everything around the preparation and serving becomes theatre. It’s all about the visual.”
Servers on scooters delivered boxes of pizza to two Autogrill food stations; staff from Rodney’s Oyster House shucked oysters; Edo offered handmade sushi to attendees; and Peller Estates made pink icewine candy. Bartenders from Bartender One entertained guests while making drinks at a large bar located in the main aisle, and a girl dressed in white chipped away at a block of ice that encased a bottle of Belvedere Vodka on the Krups stage.

IDS09 Unveils Plans for Opening-Night Party
|
The opening-night party for the Interior Design Show—running February 5 to 8 at the Direct Energy Centre—will adopt an aMUSE theme. Faulhaber PR told BizBash that the launch of the 11th annual show will highlight "clever gastronomical creations and ingeniously delivered amuse-bouches." Scavolini, Dekla, and House & Home Media are presenting the event. (IDS marked its 10th anniversary this past February with a "Decadence"-themed party featuring a host of performers, including opera singers, burlesque dancers, and 30 live statues.)
The cocktail reception will provide an expected 5,000 guests with an opportunity to mingle and preview installations and exhibits like 5X5—presented by Samsung and The Globe and Mail and featuring five spaces designed by 64th and Queen, Castor, Earth Inc., Taylor Hannah Architect Inc., and Tomas Pearce Interior Design Consulting Inc. The Crystal Clear exhibit, presented by Audi and Azure, will showcase six installations featuring Swarovski Crystallized Elements by the likes of Brothers Dressler, Giannone Associates, and Jacques Bilodeau.
