Former Rosedale Golf Club pastry chef Madelaine Sperry moved her shop, Flaky Tart, from Concord to Toronto at the end of May. The array of sweet treats include brownies, cupcakes, pies, and Sperry's specialty, custom-made cakes. "We like everything to be fresh and made on the premises," says Sperry, whose cake flavours include chocolate banana and chocolate Chambord with toppings like buttercream icing, ganache, and mousse. Sperry also makes cakes and cookies with logos for corporate clients, and can cater a pastry table for events for as many as 400.
