Art can be both a conversation starter and a design feature when galleries are used for events such as cocktail receptions or staff parties. Here's a look at three new spots available to rent:

1. The DK Photo Group opened galleryDK, a contemporary urban photography gallery, in May on the West Queen West strip. The small room has laminate floors, three white walls (and one painted dark grey), and track lighting. It holds as many as 50 people for cocktail receptions.

2. Also in the Queen West art district is the 900-square-foot Sunny Choi Gallery, which opened last month and showcases work that represents images and ideas of beauty. The long, newly renovated room has large windows facing Queen Street, polished granite floors, and a glass desk that can double as a bar. It holds 90 for receptions and is available for evening bookings.

3. Over in the Distillery District, the 1,850-square-foot Meta Gallery opened in early September, exhibiting sculptures, paintings, and photography. The space features 15-foot ceilings, hardwood floors, a professional audio system, and floor-to-ceiling windows. It holds 175.
