| Corporate Holiday Party Update: Pricewaterhouse Coopers, CTV Among Companies Planning Bashes |
|
While the economic crisis south of the border has led to the cancellation of countless holiday parties, it seems many companies in the Toronto area aren’t letting the current climate stop them from throwing celebrations for employees and clients this year. Granted, some firms have told us they don't want media coverage of their parties this season. But others are being upfront about their plans.
Pricewaterhouse Coopers will host a "Fire and Ice" theme party for 3,700 guests at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre this coming weekend. “We’re transforming a trade show floor into a really cool party,” said Jodi Spivak, operations manager with Roni Feldman & Associates, which is planning the event.
The marketing agency Capital C is inviting guests “to travel back to the heyday of the Orient Express, where the bourgeoisie played and adventure reigned” at a themed holiday party being held in the firm’s King Street East offices in early December. Guests are encouraged to dress in “shimmering gold or midnight blue” for the event.
Patrick Gossage’s PR agency Media Profile is moving its annual party—a popular bash attended by journalists and PR types—from the Great Hall to Brant House this year for a film noir-themed event. (Invites featured a black and white image of Humphrey Bogart.)
And CTV—which hosted an elaborate Doctor Zhivago-themed party for more than 3,000 guests at the Guvernment & Kool Haus in 2007 (our coverage is here)—also plans to celebrate the season with a staff party next month. “I know that many companies are canceling, but CTV feels it is important at this difficult time to recognize and show appreciation to their staff for all the hard work they do throughout the year,” said Mafalda Caruso, CTV’s executive director of special events.
