Organizers of the 2009 Dragon Ball unveiled the details for next year’s event and welcomed Peekaboo, a 350-pound Hereford calf, to a press conference at the Tridel Store on Carlton Street last Tuesday—highlighting the fact that the upcoming gala takes place two days prior to the arrival of the Year of the Ox.

The ball, which benefits the Yee Hong Centre for Geriatric Care, marks its 20th year at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre on January 24. Tridel Corporation is the presenting sponsor of the 2009 event, which attracts more than 1,600 guests annually and is aiming to raise $1 million.

The organizing committee has already started selling raffle tickets for a chance to win a Lexus IS 250 Sports Sedan, donated by Don Valley North Lexus and Lexus of Richmond Hill, or a trip to Peru, donated by Tour East Holidays and Air Canada.
