Canadian Liver Foundation Targets Teens With New Gala
The Canadian Liver Foundation is targeting teens with the first-ever LiveRight Gala, set to take place at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre April 4. The event is being designed to educate parents and their teenage children about the health issues associated with hepatitis. "Since hepatitis can affect young and old alike, it is an important health issue for parents to be aware of for themselves as well as for their children. By involving both teens and parents in the event, we want to help facilitate a dialogue between the generations," said Sally Byun of DDB Public Relations, which is handling media for the event.

MuchMusic personality Sabrina Jalees will cohost the event with the winner of a contest being thrown by the foundation. The gala will include activities like the Gibson Guitar Jam Zone, a video game room, a removable-tattoo parlor, photo booths, tarot card readers, silent/live auctions, and raffles. The main stage, which will be flanked by a half pipe, will feature performances by Canadian indie rockers Tokyo Police Club, a dance performance by Twisted Ankles Crew, a fashion show featuring designers such as Ed Hardy, and a skate board and BMX bike demonstration. Proceeds from the gala—sponsored by Crush, Bruce Power, Ed Hardy, Puma, Guess, Roxy, and Elmer Olsen Model Management—will be used to expand the foundation's youth education and prevention programs.
