| Bustle Clothing's Shawn Hewson and Ruth Promislow collaborated with furniture designer Andrew Richard Designs to set the stage for a Muskoka-themed runway show at LG Fashion Week. |
|
For the presentation of their spring 2010 menswear line at LG Fashion Week, designers Shawn Hewson and Ruth Promislow, the pair behind the sportswear label Bustle Clothing, adopted a country cottage theme for their Canadian Shield collection and collaborated with Andrew Richard Designs on a line of outdoor furniture, also showcased on the runway.
"When you find another brand you work well with, it's a perfect opportunity to express it on the runway," said Hewson, Bustle’s creative director and a Project Runway Canada judge. In addition to Andrew Richard Designs, the runway show also featured products from Belvedere Vodka, Peroni, and Broil King. |

National Post society columnist Shinan Govani served drinks behind a bar positioned at the runway entrance, CBC host Rick Mercer manned the Broil King barbecue (and walked the runway brandishing his microphone from The Mercer Report), and model Stacy McKenzie of Canada's Next Top Model pushed a bar cart along the catwalk, offering drinks to guests.
"The Mercer Report called us and said they wanted Rick to be involved. We thought that was perfect. We needed someone to work the barbecue," Hewson said. As for Govani's appearance, Hewson described the writer's new book—Boldface Names—as the "ultimate cottage read," so he called on Govani for a cameo. "We wanted it to be really fun," Hewson said, noting the show included all the elements you need at a cottage.
In past years, Bustle has collaborated with brands such as Audi, Vespa, Hotel Le Germain, Ultra, Fashion House, and Source UK Carpets. Bustle is also participating in Gotstyle’s “Made in Canada” show on Friday night.
