| Jeanne Lottie Hosts Sexy Pink Bedroom Benefit |
| The trendy design house invited guests to spoil themselves pink at its annual fund-raiser for breast cancer research. |
|
The dominant colour at the annual Pink Bedroom Party may have been pink, but the atmosphere at the Liberty Grand was red hot. This year’s charity gala, which raises funds for the Campbell Family Institute for Breast Cancer Research, featured a champagne reception, a sumptuous dinner, a fashion show, and an auction. Rising star Amanda Martinez, a Latin singer, actor, and broadcaster, supplied the live entertainment.
Pink Bedroom Party founder Jane Ip, president of Jeanne Lottie, enlisted the help of public relations firm Manning Selvage and Lee and event planner Marlo Znidarec to execute the fund-raiser, which targeted the young urban professional set.
The design team used pink to great effect throughout the venue. Just inside the front doors, pink uplighting illuminated a branded ice sculpture atop a pedestal from iceFX. Inside the spacious lobby, an array of pink Jeanne Lottie handbags, pillows, blankets, and accessories sat on shelves and atop the furniture. Jennie Shin of Avenue Flowers used snapdragons, pink lilies, and pink roses in floral arrangements that populated the foyer. During the cocktail reception, Fine Foods Incorporated’s caterwaiters wore pink cocktail gowns while passing guests a pink beverage made with Sence rose nectar. As well, event staff sported pink Jeanne Lottie hoodies—many guests got into the spirit by incorporating a splash of pink into their outfits. |

The event exuded a distinct Caribbean flavour. Sunbeat, a two-man band featuring a steel-drum player, performed southern island classics like “Margaritaville” and “I Shot the Sheriff” for arriving guests. During the cocktail reception, Liberty Grand caterwaiters patrolled the party, offering tropical hors d’oeuvres such as tuna and paw paw skewers with ginger yogurt. Liberty Grand head chef Michael Ewing got into the act, using flavours and ingredients associated with the Caribbean in the dinner menu. The four-course meal featured dishes such as dark rum and sherry-glazed mahi mahi and Bermudian fish chowder with salt cod and banana tian.
The Pink Bedroom Party’s theme was Spoil Yourself Pink, and sponsors went out of their way to pamper partygoers. P&G Beauty installed a beauty bar in the hall with professional stylists, who offered beauty tips and fixed guests’ hair and makeup, and trained masseurs, who provided hand massages. At the Cadbury booth, guests got cozy in a blue satin covered bed while snacking on a new line of low-calorie Cadbury Thins chocolate bars.
After dinner, Jeannie Lottie put on a fashion show, and the charity auction followed. Luxury Bermudian vacations, works of art, and Whispa electric scooters were among the items up for grabs. Later, Martinez took to the stage for an intimate performance, and DJ Luke Balloon rounded out the evening with high-energy music for those wanting to shake it on the dance floor. Liberty Grand’s in-house technicians provided sound and lighting throughout the event, under the direction of stage manager Bruce MacDonald of Mac Productions.
