Cornerstone Entertainment Concepts Inc. is an award-winning entertainment and event production company celebrating its 20th anniversary. Over the years, Cornerstone has been nominated for numerous awards and is the proud recipient of Gala, CEIA, and BizBash Toronto Event Style Awards.
Cornerstone was founded in 1987 when the local event industry was very much in its infancy. A first booking of strolling entertainers for a small retail promotion was the starting point for a true business success story. Years of hard work, perseverance, and a true business-minded approach made Cornerstone stand out from the competition and allowed them to connect with clients on the things that really matter: how events enhance business and a company’s overall success.
This business-first philosophy and a strong desire to stay one step ahead of others in the industry allowed Cornerstone to survive the recession of the early ’90s and the economic challenges of the combined disasters of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and the SARS crisis in Toronto.
Through years and many varied experiences, Cornerstone has grown into a full-service entertainment and event production company that produces leading-edge events and spectacular entertainment productions. Whether it is a national sales conference, celebrity performance, product launch, company picnic, or themed event, Cornerstone has done it all!
Cornerstone was founded by Don Saytar, a graduate of the bachelor of commerce program at the University of Toronto. Although a naturally born organizer with a strong artistic side and fanatical attention to detail, Don felt pressured to follow a traditional educational path and pursued a career in accounting with Price Waterhouse. Although in the end, Don’s heart and talents did not lie in the world of numbers, his training and analytical mind have provided a strong framework for Cornerstone’s solid business practices and professional approach. Many large and small competitors have come and gone over the years, yet Cornerstone thrives with its ever-expanding roster of existing and referral clients.
Through the years, Don Saytar has proven to be an industry leader who has consistently championed higher levels of professionalism and proper business practices within the event industry. This was recognized when he was chosen as the president of ISES International from 1999-2000. Prior to this position, his industry involvement included membership in leading industry organizations (AFM, MPI, ISES, Tourism Toronto) and serving on numerous industry committees, the International Board of Governors of ISES, the EventWorld Advisory Board, the CEIA Advisory Council, and as vice president of the Toronto chapter of ISES. Locally, Don spearheaded the formation of the Toronto Events Coalition in response to the SARS crisis, and his letter to the editor on the impact of SARS on the event industry was printed in The Toronto Star. He is also a published author on the subject of working with celebrities and has lectured on entertainment, event production, and business practices at the conference, college, and university levels.
