Rain didn’t stop more than 1,400 event and meeting planners and suppliers from gathering at the Direct Energy Centre on February 11, 2009, for the eighth annual BizBash Event Style Expo. The show provided attendees the opportunity to network, get inspired, have some fun, and find new ideas at education sessions, exhibits, a Hall of Fame induction ceremony, and a cocktail reception.

Both foodies and planners alike came together on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in New York City’s meatpacking district to celebrate that often overlooked and underappreciated party starter—the hors d’oeuvre. BizBash transformed 632 on Hudson ’s new ground-floor event space into a temporary Hors d’Oeuvre House. The October 11 tasting event was part of the first New York City Wine & Food Festival.

On September 23, 2008, Washington-area event professionals gathered at the Sequoia restaurant to celebrate BizBash Washington’s Top 100 annual events issue. Attendees included leaders and orchestrators of the major D.C. events in categories such as benefits, political and press events, holiday events, and sporting events. The restaurant was transformed into a sleek event space overlooking the Kennedy Center and the Potomac River on a spectacular early fall evening.

More than 2,000 event and meeting planners and suppliers gathered at the sun-filled I.M. Pei South Wing of the L.A. Convention Center on June 5 for the second annual BizBash L.A. Event Style Expo & Awards.
The show provided attendees the opportunity to network, get inspired, have some fun, and find new ideas through education sessions, exhibits, an award presentation, and a cocktail reception. It truly lived up to this year’s theme, “Your Next Great Idea Starts Here.”

Briggs Inc. , a destination management company in New York City, recently hosted the sixth annual June Briggs Awards for Destination Management Excellence. The presentation of the awards took place at Sardi’s restaurant in the heart of New York’s theater district. The awards are named in honor of June Briggs, a visionary founder of the destination management industry.

The Flatotel in Midtown Manhattan played host to the latest forum in BizBash's "Art of the Event" series on April 16. The theme of the gathering was "The Secrets of Planning Events in Unusual Spaces."
Flatotel's Moda restaurant had an air of sophistication, steeped in candlelight with floral arrangements on the tables. The wall behind the speakers twinkled with dozens of votives arranged in asymmetric rows.
Guests arrived and relaxed as they sampled hors d'oeuvres from the kitchen. Circulating alongside attendees were blinis with caviar, fresh dill, and crème fraîche; prosciutto-wrapped scallops; and foie gras tartlets with fig jam and chives. The house-special cocktail, a delicious blend of prosecco, pomegranate, and fresh raspberries, was a big hit.
