Danielle Tergis
After five years as the promotions and marketing manager of the D.C.-based Hisaoka Public Relations, Danielle Tergis began a new job this week as director of marketing and communications for Yoga Alliance, a group of more than 18,000 registered yoga teachers and schools.

Tergis earned a graduate degree in marketing from Johns Hopkins University this winter, giving her a leg up for the new post, where she handles branding, promotional tools, and media relations. She will also be planning events to mark the alliance’s 10th anniversary in 2009, as well as developing public relations efforts for Yoga Day USA, a day of activities promoting the sport throughout the country.

“I went back to school because I was interested in moving into more of an integrated marketing role,” Tergis explained. “The [new] position was the perfect opportunity to combine my passion for marketing and my love for yoga." MORE >>

Come April 1, the Hill will have a new hotel: the Liaison Capitol Hill, the first Washington site from Affinia Hotels, which has five properties in New York and Chicago. In the former Holiday Inn on the Hill space, between Union Station and the Capitol on New Jersey Avenue, the 343-room hotel is in the midst of a $12 million renovation. The proposed design, from Dawson Design of Seattle, follows a modern decor in shades of black, white, and gray accented with red, with the lobby featuring six- by six-foot paintings of famous world leaders from Mahatma Gandhi to Margaret Thatcher.
