| Champion Builds Staff, Doubles Office Size |
|
In January, Champion Exposition Services named David Perkins as executive vice president of sales for North America. Then this week, the company announced that Mark Szymczak, formerly national sales manager for the Washington, D.C., Convention and Tourism Corporation, is the new senior marketing and sales executive.
Champion, an event- and exposition-planning company with locations in 25 cities, is in the process of expanding its presence in Washington, where clients include the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the American Institute of Architects. The group is building its staff and getting ready to double its Alexandria office space.
According to Perkins, who previously worked as national sales director of corporate events for Freeman, the continued growth of the staff is “dependent upon long-term needs for client relations and future business development,” but physical expansion of the company's office space is underway and expected to be finished by the spring, at which point Perkins plans to host an open-house event.
