The Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill is currently undergoing a $7 million renovation project set to be completed later this month, part of the ongoing upgrade of Hyatt Regency properties nationwide.

A redesigned atrium lobby is the centerpiece of the property's makeover, with a new staircase, custom-made chandeliers, and a streamlined registration desk that will feature self check-in kiosks. Design elements include walnut woodwork, champagne-colored wall coverings, and chain-link window coverings.

The lobby is home to the Hyatt's new contemporary American restaurant, Article One, which opened last Monday. The restaurant, named for the article of the U.S. Constitution establishing the structure of Congress, features dishes from executive chef Michael Barber, including steaks, salads, sandwiches, and breakfast items.

An art installation of floating metal coins separates Article One from the rest of the lobby area, and the dining room is decorated with dark wood and textured gold wall coverings. Two private lounges seat as many as 12 guests each, and two private dining rooms seat 16 each. The lounges and dining rooms can be combined to create space for 24 and 36 people, respectively.
