| Gaylord Gets a New Georgetown-Inspired Steakhouse |
|
Imagine a town house placed in the middle of the 18-story glass atrium of the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center, and you have the design scheme of the Old Hickory Steakhouse at National Harbor.
Modeled after a classic Georgetown row house, Old Hickory (which took its moniker from President Andrew Jackson’s nickname) features dark wood tones, beige and white leather chairs, and custom chandeliers. Scenic paintings hang next to a cheese cave (presided over by maitre d’ fromage Carolyn Stromberg), and a Spanish cedar humidor holding the restaurant's cigar collection. |

Old Hickory is comprised of two private dining spaces, a bar, a 74-seat main dining space, and an outdoor terrace. Separated from the restaurant by a glass-enclosed wine rack, the 18-seat wine room can hold 40 for cocktails and includes a large custom-made wood table. A second semiprivate space in the center of the restaurant is named after former first lady Rachel Jackson, and can seat as many as 40. Also available for rental is the 75-seat back room, defined by floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the harbor, and a cigar terrace that holds 75. Full buyouts for 220 can be accommodated. Menu options include black Angus beef, herb-roasted poulet rouge chicken, and almond-encrusted jumbo lump crab cake.
