Salamander Hospitality announced this week that its much anticipated Salamander Resort & Spa, scheduled to open in spring 2010, has joined the national sales company Associated Luxury Hotels International, which will provide services to associations, corporations, and event planners who wish to stage meetings and conventions at the resort. The 340-acre project, owned by BET cofounder Sheila C. Johnson, is located in Middleburg, Virginia, a 45-minute drive from downtown Washington and 35-minute drive from Washington Dulles Airport.

Designed by architectural firm WATG from Irvine, California, the project features 168 rooms and suites (including a 2,000-square-foot presidential suite), a 23,000-square-foot spa with 14 treatment rooms, and the 5,000-square-foot grand ballroom, with a total of 12,000 square feet of flexible meeting space. Other amenities include indoor and outdoor pools, a fitness center, and tennis courts.

Todd Gray, co-owner of Equinox restaurant in downtown Washington, is the culinary director for the resort’s dining rooms, cooking studio, and wine bar. Salamander Hospitality also owns and manages the Innisbrook Golf Resort and Club near Tampa and the Woodlands Resort & Inn near Charleston, South Carolina.
