When two million people flooded the National Mall for President Obama’s inauguration this January, it signaled the unofficial start of a year when all the world’s eyes will be on D.C. These are the diverse events—from marathons to food festivals to benefit galas—that shine the brightest in Washington’s increasingly crowded spotlight.
