1. Fashion Fights Poverty Runway Show
This runway presentation, which raises money for a different charity each year, moved to the St. Regis Hotel in 2008 and shrank to a more exclusive 250-person event. Actress Parker Posey and Fox 5 news anchor Will Thomas hosted the show, which returns for a fifth year this fall.

2. Nordstrom’s Designer Fall Preview
In 2008, 500 guests caught Nordstrom’s latest fashions and raised $60,000 for nonprofit Knock Out Abuse Against Women at this runway show at the National Building Museum. The eighth annual show returns this month.

3. Washington Humane Society Fashion for Paws Runway Show
This third annual people-and-pets fashion show brought 1,200 guests to the Italian Embassy on March 28 and took in $240,000 for the Humane Society.

4. D.C. Fashion Week
This twice-annual event next takes off September 14 to 20, with runway shows at locations ranging from the Embassy of France to Howard University’s Cramton Auditorium.
