Scion Opens on P Street With Private Dining and Outdoor Space
P Street’s restaurant row gained a new casual dining spot with the opening of Scion on July 11. The 1,900-square-foot space, formerly home to the short-lived Café Troupe, has a color scheme of salmon, celery, and wheat shades with bamboo flooring. Photos of Washington landmarks hang on the walls.

To the right of the entrance is an 18-seat bar and lounge area where bartenders pour a distinctive list of microbrews. On the left are the 35-seat main dining room and two private dining rooms, which seat 25 and 10, respectively. A covered all-weather patio seats an additional 50 guests.

Scion’s menu is Asian-inspired modern American with signature dishes such as Malbec-braised short ribs and a lobster Reuben. Owner Joanne Liu named the restaurant in honor of her parents, Jenny and Henry Liu, who own the 170-seat Jenny’s Asian Fusion on the Southwest waterfront.
